MBA/MSN Degree
Integrating advanced nursing and
business management
The MS/MBA program prepares administrators with a unique blend of advanced nursing and business management expertise, so they are able to analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate innovative and creative responses to health care marketplace events. The dual degree program involves 66 credits of required course work and can be completed in two years of rigorous full-time, year-round study. Graduates are awarded an MS from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and an MBA from The Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Curriculum Requirements
All students are required to complete the Core MBA requirements (including all courses and ELMs which are part of the MBA program to which they are admitted), plus the requirements of the MS specialization they choose. A summary of the MBA/MS requirements is below:
Full-time MBA/MS program
- MBA Core
- MBA Consulting Project
- All FT ELM’s (based on requirements at the time of admission to MBA program)
- Two elective courses (6 credits)
Total MBA credits: 36
All required courses for the MS Specialization area
Total MS credits: 30
Part-time MBA/MS Programs
- MBA Core
- All PT ELM’s (based on requirements at the time of admission to MBA program)
- Three Elective courses (9 credits)
Total MBA credits: 36
All required courses for the MS Specialization area
Total MS credits: 30
Plus 30 credits required for the MS Specialization area
